Congratulations to Candi and Josh. They came to stay with us two days on an elopement package and were lucky enough to have both rain and sunshine on their wedding day! After a quick ceremony on the patio, they had a small reception in the tavern and headed up to Mt. Washington for the afternoon. They are a wonderful, personable couple and we wish them the best of luck!

The Pool is Ready for Summer!

You know summer is around the corner when the pool is opened for the season. This is a GREAT spot for relaxing in the afternoon after hiking, biking or shopping. Some of our guests start their day out with a few laps before breakfast. No matter what time of day you prefer to swim, don’t forget to take advantage of this opportunity to lounge!

It’s Official…Spring is here!Originally uploaded by darbyfieldinn.We never thought it would be here so soon, but all the snow has melted and the flowers and seasonal birds are back! This is the perfect time to visit us for spring hiking and/or relaxing in the peace and quiet. Our dining room is now open Thursday through Sunday, which is another cause for celebration! Our crocuses have been blooming over the past few days. While it seems odd to see them next to melting snow banks, they are surely the first sign that spring is finally here! I know Christmas and its decorations have been put away for months now, but our tree has been covered in snow! With the warm weather (could it be spring?!) we’ve been having lately, we may actually be able to put it to rest before summer….I won’t be so bold as to say that, though. I’m afraid Mother Nature might choose to give us some more of the white stuff. With the advent of mud season in our near future, we are taking a break until next weekend. This gives us the opportunity to finish projects started months ago and to come up with some GREAT spring/off season specials to offer to guests for the next month or so…check our website frequently to plan your next visit!

These four friends stayed with us at the inn to witness Leanne and Marcos be married and Andrea and Wellington renew their vows. Our innkeeper performed both ceremonies. We wish both couples all the best!

Here is an example of Spring in New Hampshire. We received several inches of snow, pushing us ever nearer to breaking our 100 year record. While it has been a GREAT winter, we are all ready to run barefoot through green grass! Maybe in a couple of months…in the meantime sleigh rides are still going strong and the snowshoeing and x-country skiing conditions are fantastic!
The inn will be closed for mud season from April 6 through 17. Hopefully when we return there will be a little less of the white stuff. We are running some Super Spring Specials during April and May, so don’t forget to check out our website from time to time…

All You Need is Dove…Originally uploaded by darbyfieldinn.One of the highlights of breakfast here at the Darby Field Inn, besides the fantastic food, is watching the antics of the birds and squirrels at the feeder. It is interesting to watch the different groups and the way they all interact with each other. I consider doves to be the gentle cows of the population; they always congregate in large, cooing groups and eat enormous amounts of sunflower seeds. They will readily give up their feeder position to any other birds, even the little Chickadees! Doves are also here year round, providing great photo opportunities for our guests, no matter what the season. It is easy to see why these gentle birds became associated with the symbol for peace!

Sleigh rides have been keeping us busy so far; everyone wants to treat themselves to our romantic, private rides! No need to plan ahead…we offer a last minute special every week to help motivate you to come play with us. Bring your cross country skis or snowshoes and set a day aside to enjoy our groomed trails. If you forget, you can use ours for a small rental fee. Oh, and if you call and no one answers, leave a message…we’re out skiing!

This young couple escaped for a white mountain elopement here and we all had the best time! They are originally from Texas and wanted to be married in the snow so off we tromped (Vera in her dress) to the top of the hill! The view was perfect - we couldnt have asked for any better. We hope to see them again before they head back down to Texas…We all wish you two all the best!
